What To Do After A Periodontal Surgery?

There are several reasons why periodontal surgery should be done after a dental assessment made by your dentist. However its main goal is to regenerate and bring back the deteriorated gums created by gum infection. Several options are available for certain gum disease and each periodontal surgery option depends on the severity of the condition.

After the periodontal surgery gums normally appear to be swollen as an after effect. Your periodontist or dentist will require you to go back for follow up check ups and assessment and to review proper oral hygiene procedures.

Home oral care treatment and proper hygiene practice are necessary especially after a periodontal surgery. Periodontal disease may recur if proper oral hygiene is not practiced and the recommended periodontal therapy is not observed. Daily removal of plaque , proper nutrition and diet are the factors in achieving long term periodontal surgery results.
